Steve Marfleet’s VE Paddle Review
Posted on Tuesday 12th February, 2013
Steve Marfleet bought a set of VE Carbon Cranks with Carbon Blades, 12 months in, and plenty of use, he contacted us with his feedback.
Steve: I have been paddling white water for a couple of years now and have recently stepped it up a gear over the past 18 months to try and get myself competent on grade 4, The choice of VE paddle that I went for was a 197cm full carbon with cranked shaft.
The amount of pull generated from each paddle stroke is phenomenal, the buoyancy of the blade makes them rise to the surface when your rolling back up in the frothy stuff, the blades are really strong and have been thoroughly put through their paces on numerous occasions with large amounts of rock bashing and abuse from poor technique.
This year they have been used for everything from playboating at HPP and the Tryweryn to Creeking in Italy, Switzerland, Nepal and in the big volume playground of Austria!
Other gear that I have has bad points as well as good points but the VE paddle stands alone in its quality, strength and looks there is nothing that I would change about them.
In summary all my other gear will be subject to fads of colour, number of pockets, weight and fit but the VE's will remain, superiorly strong and just great at what they are supposed to do!
Steve has also just ordered a set of VE Carbon Cranks with Blue Glass Blades... we look forward to hearing how he get's on with them soon!
